Request a School Visit
Joseph is available for school and library visits.
He is based in Lancashire, United Kingdom and there is no charge for a local event, however he may request reimbursement for travel if there is significant travel involved.
He is very busy with his writing so not always immediately available but will endeavour to meet all requests at some stage during the year.
His talks generally last for 45 – 60 minutes, including questions and book signing. It is appreciated if reasonable effort is made to sell books on the day or pre order. Joseph is happy to sign these and will also sign any books that pupils (or teachers) have at home. We can supply bookseller contact details if required.
He will address any audience small or large, boys and girls 10 +. His presentation includes powerpoint so access to a laptop and screen is desirable. Depending on audience size Joseph prefers to use a lapel mic or microphone on a stand. He was a school teacher for thirty years before becoming a full time writer and his talks very much focus on the writing process, getting published, the importance of editing and the inspiration behind the books. He is a very engaging and entertaining speaker and is regularly invited back to schools that he has visited. His writing draws from local Lancashire folklore, historical events and even dreams and many of the locations in his books are recognisable.
This is what one Librarian had to say after a visit from Joseph:
“The visit was a huge success and I have NEVER seen the children so enthralled and captivated when I have had previous authors come and visit. Joseph has such high energy and talks with such animation that the children had to listen hard or they would have missed the boat. What a delight he was. The two teachers present both said (separately) to me that he was the best author they had ever listened to. High praise indeed from these very experienced teachers. I had a stream of children ask when I was going to have the books available to reserve. I lost count after 15. I have told them to go and buy it if they can't wait."
